Our Safe, Not Scared project has received a significant boost with the People’s Postcode Trust making a grant of £20,000 for the pilot of the new lesson plan. The pilot will begin in March and run through to June 2017.
People’s Postcode Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Geoff Newiss, Chief Executive of Action Against Abduction said “It’s fantastic news that players of People’s Postcode Lottery are supporting such an important initiative to keep our children safe. This funding will make a real difference to all of our children for years to come.”
Jacky Halton, Head Teacher of Crofton Hammond Infant School in Stubbington, Hampshire – who has helped to develop the new lesson plan – said “Providing teachers and parents with an alternative to ‘stranger danger’ is an enormous step in the right direction towards keeping children safe without instilling fear. We want children to be positive, confident and to engage with the outside world, and it’s great that we are now able to start piloting our new approach”.
